一、 熟悉教學內容,確定教學重點
初中學生一進入初三階段,學習任務明顯加重。要在有限的時間里提高學生的成績,必須要向課堂45分鐘要質量。因此,教師在上每一節課之前,首先要熟悉該課的教學重點與難點,同時要熟悉初一、初二已經學過的教學重點。在備課時要有計劃、有重點地把初一、初二學過的內容進行歸納、整理,在上課時做到以新帶舊、以舊促新,把過去學過的舊知識與本學期要學的新內容有機地聯系起來,便于學習、記憶。如,在第三冊中出現了look up (查閱)這個詞組,我就復習look at , look for ,look out of ,look inside , look around等詞組。出現not…but…(不僅…而且…)這個句型,并分析了它們的異同。這樣既復習了已學知識,并使之加深鞏固,在這些舊知識的基礎上學習新知識,化難為易,便于學習。
二、 運用教學規律,培養學習能力,激發學習興趣
初三學生雖然經過兩年多的英語學習,但不少學生仍然死記硬背單詞的字母拼寫,有的讀不正確,有的不會讀,這樣就嚴重地影響了教學效果。為了掃除障礙,在開學初抽出時間復習音標、拼讀規則等語音知識。在單詞教學中,讓學生利用音標進行拼讀規則,用拼讀規則來幫助記憶單詞。初中學生對單詞往往感到難度很大,很難過單詞關。在教學過程中,有意識地補充一些構詞法知識,讓學生舉一反三,擴大詞匯量。如,許多名詞,如sun , wind, rain, cloud等詞加后綴y就變成形容詞,許多動詞+er就變成名詞。又如,通過學習friendly這個單詞,請學生體會motherly,brotherly,comradely等詞的含義。通過學習interest, interesting, interested 這些同根詞,不僅要求學生注意不同詞性的詞的不同種用法,而且著重講述相同詞性詞的不同用法,以增加信息量,提高記憶效率,從而在學習新知識時,鞏固了舊知識。
三、 重視并科學地安排復習
由于學生學習英語缺乏很好的語言環境,不能經常地應用所學的語言知識,所以學習后很容易忘記。因此,在教學中應有計劃地分散難點,最大限度地提高舊知識的復現率,做到經常出現,時時復習。如果我們認真鉆研一下教材,就會發現第三冊課本在不斷地復現著第一、第二冊中所學過的語法知識及功能項目等。
語法知識方面:第三冊第一單元復現了第一、二冊中的四種時態:一般現在時,一般將來時和現在進行時。第三單元復現了第二冊中學過的現在進行時。第十單元復現了第一冊中的一般現在時。第十八單元又復現了動詞的四種時態。其中,過去時、現在進行時和一般將來時都是一、二冊所學的內容。同時,還復現了形容詞及副詞的比較級和最高級以及第一冊中的數字讀法等。
語言功能方面:第三冊中的第六單元和第八單元都復現了第一冊第二十四單元和第二冊第一單元“借東西”這一主題。第十單元復現了第二冊第十五單元“打電話”這一項目。第十二單元復現了第一冊第十七單元“請示或提供幫助”這一項目。第十五單元和第二十二單元都復現了第一冊第二十九單元和第二冊第十四單元“購物”這一項目。第十七單元的“問路和應答”復現了第二冊第九單元和第二十二單元所學過的功能項目。第二十三單元的“看病”復現了第二冊第二十三單元和第二十四單元的內容,等等。
由此我們可以看出,教材的編者在有意識地幫助學生不斷復習已學過的內容。他們把舊的語言知識放在新的語言環境里復習,使學生總是有新鮮感,即使是復習,也不感到厭倦。因此,我們在初三年級開始,就要根據教材復現情況,有計劃地安排復習及教學。例如,我們在進行第一單元教學時,就可根據本單元內容安排四種時態復習。這一單元和第四課內容較少,只有一段聽力性訓練和兩段對話。兩段對話一段發生在星期一,加一段發生在星期五,而星期二是教師節。所以,在談論教師時,第一段用了一般將來時,而第二段則用了一般過去時。教師在指導學生進行“Read and Act”之后,要用簡捷的語言復習和歸納一下這兩種不同的時態及用法。若有時間,可出一些時態方面的練習,讓學生課上完成,并當堂訂正,訂正的過程也是復習的過程。
再如,我們進行第十七單元的教學時,教師可將課文中的路線圖畫在黑板上,讓學生做問路方面的問答練習。由于學生在第二冊中學習過怎樣問路或給別人指路,他們在教師的引導下便會說出“Where is the …? Which is the way to? Go along the street , Take the second turning on the right . It’s next to … ”等句子。這時,教師要幫助學生把第二冊中學過的全部有關問路方面的用語都復習一遍。在此基礎上再學習新的內容。那么,“問路”這一語言功能 在這一單元里既進行了復習又得到了擴展。如果我們能夠這樣安排第三冊的教學,在學期結束時,就能夠使學生將初中階段學過的主要語言功能項目和語法項目復習一遍。更為重要的是通過這種穩步的教學,學生們的聽、說、讀、寫的能力能夠繼續得到鞏固和提高。
四、 及時進行形成性測試,取得反饋信息,調節教學過程
教師在教學過程中應及時地進行測試。學生經過測試,可以了解到自己的程度及存在的問題,教師可以獲得教學效果的反饋信息,及時地糾正學生的語言錯誤,彌補學生的知識漏洞。對于測試中反映出來的共性問題,可以在下一堂課進行評析,并選用不同的練習形式進行操練。對于成績較差、錯誤較多的學生,課后要及時進行個別輔導,糾正錯誤。兩三天后可以進行第二次平行性測試,內容主要是針對他們沒有領會和掌握的語言知識點。如果這些學生所學的內容在兩次形成測試中能做到對80%--85%,則他們就算基本達標了。一旦學生獲得這樣的反饋信息,就會堅定信心,心情舒暢地努力學習,跟上班級的進度。
最后,可以指導學生開展課外活動,擴大知識面,提高他們學習英語的興趣,可以利用課余時間聽一些英語歌曲,進行書法、會話、查詞典比賽、按角色表演等,這不僅能增強學習英語的興趣,還能幫助他們記憶單詞和句子,進行更廣泛的言語訓練。
多年的教學實踐證明,如果采用以新帶舊、以舊促新的方法,只要學生在初三階段認真學習,即使初一、初二基礎不太理想,通過一年的努力,成績還是可以有很大的提高。
